After graduating (BSc Biological Sciences, 2:1) my early posts involved copy-editing research reports, writing and editing copy for a biomedical information bulletin, and editing manuscripts for international research journals. Subsequently I had full editorial responsibility for the information bulletin. Working in close contact with researchers throughout this time gave me valuable insight into scientific methods.

I have more than 15 years of experience as a freelance medical writer and editor. My work has included projects in many medical subject areas for pharmaceutical companies, medical publishers, medical communications agencies, academics and health service agencies.

I continue to update my skills regularly by attending conferences and training courses (e.g. advanced data presentation, biomedical information on the internet, on-screen editing, editing and proofreading for the web, pharmacology, statistics and writing skills). I am a member of the European Medical Writers Association and of the European Association of Science Editors.

I recently completed the European Medical Writers Association Professional Development Programme.
